Appropriate ICD-10 Codes for Infectious Disease Screening
We are seeking official ASRM guidance regarding appropriate ICD-10 coding for infectious disease (STD) screening in the context of gestational carrier arrangements.
Specifically, we would like clarification on whether ICD-10 code Z31.7 (Encounter for procreative management and counseling for gestational carrier) may be appropriately used when ordering STD/infectious disease screening for the gestational carrier’s spouse or partner, or whether ASRM recommends use of alternative or additional diagnosis codes (such as screening codes like Z11.3).
