ASRM & RESOLVE Co-Host Federal Advocacy Day for Lawmakers to Hear from Providers, Patients, and Members of Family-Building and Fertility Community

May 20, 2025
For immediate release

Washington, DC—Today is RESOLVE’s Federal Advocacy Day in partnership with the American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM), an opportunity for lawmakers to meet virtually with physicians, experts, advocates, patients, and members of the family-building and fertility community as they share stories about the personal and professional impact of assisted reproductive technology like in vitro fertilization (IVF) and the importance of expanding access to these treatments.

“Year after year, the advocacy efforts of ASRM members have resulted in positive change at the federal and state level, resulting in expanded access to reproductive care for tens of thousands of Americans,” said Dr. Elizabeth Ginsburg, President of ASRM. “We are at our strongest when patients and providers come together to advocate for life-changing policies, such as IVF mandates and increased insurance coverage, to make reproductive medicine universally affordable and accessible.”

This year, all 50 states are being represented by a combination of patients and providers, and many of the latter are ASRM members. ASRM and RESOLVE have a long history of collaborating with policymakers across the country to improve access to essential reproductive care and services. In 1985, ASRM celebrated changes to Maryland’s insurance laws to increase access to care for individuals seeking fertility treatment. More recently, in 2023, ASRM supported IVF and fertility preservation legislation, with mandates that became law in Texas, Montana, and Kentucky. Last year, ASRM also worked to pass an IVF insurance mandate law in California.

For almost a century, the American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM) has been the global leader in multidisciplinary reproductive medicine research, ethical practice, and education. ASRM impacts reproductive care and science worldwide by creating funding opportunities for advancing reproduction research and discovery, by providing evidence-based education and public health information, and by advocating for reproductive health care professionals and the patients they serve. With members in more than 100 countries, the Society is headquartered in Washington, DC, with additional operations in Birmingham, AL. www.asrm.org
