Gary M. Horowitz, MD

Gary Martin Horowitz, MD, 71, passed away on Tuesday, October 17, 2023. Gary was born May 28, Horowitz 1952 in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico. He attended the Julliard School of Music, graduated from Sayville High School in 1970, and the Air Force Academy in 1974. After flying C130s for the Air Force for 9 years, he realized his dream of serving his community as a physician and went to the School of Medicine at the University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill, class of 1985.

Dr. Horowitz served his residency in Obstetrics-Gynecology at Wilford Hall Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas, at Lackland Air Force Base. He served in Operation Desert Storm in 1991. Wanting to help infertile patients with their infertility, he completed a fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at Mt. Sinai Center in New York City. He worked in an academic format in multiple places across the United States, both as a division director of REI and as a resident coordinator. During his career, he received multiple awards and accolades for his teaching and practice. He was a member of the American Society of Reproductive Medicine (ASRM), the Society of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility (SREI), and the Society of Reproductive Surgeons (SRS).

Dr. Horowitz is survived by his wife, Kari (Karen) Kovach Horowitz, and his children, Alexander Horowitz and Rachel (Christopher Fisher) Horowitz.
